Alcohol - DUI "Dead in 5 Seconds"

Today 1/18/10 we are talking about the drug "ALCOHOL". This drug is a depressant most of the time and will cause people to become relaxed and not as in control of things like they should. In the year 1998 15,935 people were killed in alcohol-related traffic crashes - an average of one every 33 minutes. These deaths consituted approximately 38.4% of the total 41,471 total traffic fatalities (NHTSA, 1999)

DUI: Dead in 5 Seconds is a realistic portrayal of drinking and its effects though a montage of images - some graphic - and interviews. Viewers will be moved by Steven Leslie's candid comments and a reading of a remorseful letter to the victim's family. Together, these glimpses into affected people's lives make DUI: Dead in 5 Seconds a moving video my students should never forget.
